Plone & Python development
I build Plone platforms with AI agents and open-source tooling. The AI stays in my workshop; what runs in production is plain Plone, hosted in Austria.
What I do
Plone Development
Custom Plone add-ons, content types, workflows and Mosaic tiles. REST services that make a site writable for agents, and integrations with web services and CRM systems. Python first.
Plone 6 Classic · Dexterity · Mosaic · plone.restapi
Python and AI
Python has been my main language for more than 25 years, and today it is also the language of AI. I use it to put language models to work: answers from a client's own documents, integrations through APIs, and agents that plan, build and check alongside me.

Hosting & support
Managed Plone hosting in Austria: updates, backups, monitoring and maintenance contracts. One contact, no ticket queue.
Docker · Traefik · RelStorage/PostgreSQL · Varnish
Migrations
From Plone 2.x, 4.x and 5.x to 6.x, including very old codebases and custom add-ons. Hundreds done; most recently a fleet of about 30 sites to Plone 6.2, with AI agents doing the porting groundwork.

Talks
Spec-driven site generation with Plone Mosaic and AI
Plone Conference 2026, Maastricht · lightning talk with live demo
The client's material becomes a plan, and the plan becomes a complete website with design, layout and structure. AI as a specific tool, not as the answer to everything.
Booost CMS: A Visual Page Builder on Plone 6
Plone Conference 2025, Jyväskylä
A visual page builder on Plone 6 Classic and Mosaic, used in more than 100 projects: what it can do, and what it costs to build against the framework.
I work with AI. My clients' websites don't.
AI sits on my side: planning, building, setting up. On the client side there is an open-source platform, hosted in Austria, with no model in production and no dependency that changes its price tomorrow.

About
Not rocket science. Just open source, done properly.
I am Roland Fasching, based in Melk, Austria. Python since EuroPython 2003, Plone since version 2.0, Plone conferences since 2004.
cloud19 has hosted Plone since 2005. It was an agency with a team; today it is one person, working with regional partners and with AI agents on the development side.
What I build stays simple on purpose: one codebase, structured content, permissions and workflows from the core, no plugin stack.
booost is my product for local businesses: managed websites on a subscription, built on the same platform. booost.at
